The Most Important Thing

What's the most important message of a Christian? What's your most important message? Think about it for a moment...

For the apostle Paul, it was clear. "For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: That Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures; that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas [that is, to Peter], then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time....Last of all...he appeared also to me." --1 Corinthians 15:3-8, ESV.

Is the message of Jesus's death, burial and resurrection primary for us? Let's be sure we have a truly Christian message.

Prayer:

Lord, don't let me forget that my only hope, my sure foundation, is what Jesus did for us.

Is it me or is it sometimes all too easy to be glib out the most precious gift we have ever been given? The death of Christ which allows us to enjoy a relationship with the Father. Thanks again for this post but most especially the last paragraph. We must never got cold to this or let the message get old. It is a wonder! Thanks Jim

It's not just you. We can become glib, mechanical, about the gospel if we aren't careful. Or we can replace the center of the message, which is Jesus, with other parts of the message. We can then think that the center is being positive, or being inspirational, or helping the poor, or using spiritual gifts, or mystical experiences, or praise.
