Creeping Pride

I've seen a creeping pride
That wants to grow inside
My often-fickle heart;
To claim I'm set apart:
I'm better far than you
Because of things I do.
But this proves the reverse,
That I may be much worse.
There's nothing good in me
Except the Lord, you see.

Be in agreement with one another. Do not be proud; instead, associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation.
--Romans 12:16, HCSB

Sometimes poetry is the best way to say something; its freedom puts rhythm and punctuation in the most effective places. And of course it's a work of art, because of its beauty in writing.

God has given you a wonderful gift, and the blog is a great way to share it with the world! Thanks

Thanks, David, for the encouragement. I sometimes am amazed that the Lord can use someone like me, since I see so much crud still in my own heart and spirit. I realize that I'm totally forgiven in Christ. He is my only hope, my sure hope. Any gift I have is what he's given, for his own reasons and his own glory.
