The Potter

The potter takes the clay
And shapes it as he wills,
With plans for use some day
Beyond the fiery kiln.

The clay can't choose its shape,
Its color or the sheen
The potter wills to give or take.
His vision reigns supreme.

O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter has done? declares the Lord. Behold, like the clay in the potter's hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.
--Jeremiah 18:6, ESV

Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?
--Romans 9:21, ESV
