Backward, backward in the faith,
Backward, backward, down toward death,
Heedless of their danger state:
Hell may take away their breath.
Sinning, sinning as they go,
Sinning, sinning their own way,
Still forgetting what they know
Until darkness swallows day.
They are called rejected silver, for the LORD has rejected them.
--Jeremiah 6:30, HCSB
For it is impossible to renew to repentance those who were once enlightened, who tasted the heavenly gift, became companions with the Holy Spirit, tasted God's good word and the powers of the coming age, and who have fallen away, because, to their own harm, they are recrucifying the Son of God and holding Him up to contempt.
--Hebrews 6:4-6 HCSB
And see that there isn't any immoral or irreverent person like Esau, who sold his birthright in exchange for one meal. For you know that later, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected because he didn't find any opportunity for repentance, though he sought it with tears.
--Hebrews 12:16, 17, HCSB
