The fruits of a long obedience,
Like the fruits of a well-kept garden or orchard,
Are slow and good and sweet.
They don't need to advertise.
They don't need to boast.
They hang in abundance from the branches of those
Who have tended their souls
As a farmer tends his crop.
People are blessed
In an simple, extra-ordinary way
And the Lord is glorified.
And Samuel said, "Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams."

The photo is of our friend Al in his garden. He and his wife love the Lord and love people and love each other.
