Sharp Truth

From Blog09

The truth is narrow, hard, sharp.
It slices through the nicest lies.
It hurts as it heals.
It flays as it frees.
The truth separates us
    From our sin,
    From our pride,
From our friends and our families.

The truth's not comfortable.
It's a surgeon's scalpel.
It's sandpaper.
It's lye.
It calls us to change into
    Conformity with God's image.

If you want easy,
You don't want truth!
But truth--sharp truth--
    Frees
    And enlightens
And leads to life forever in Jesus,
Who is the Truth.

So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
--John 8:31-32

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
--John 14:6

..Truth is in Jesus.
--Ephesians 4:21
