Killing Sin

Today, a poem that I'd posted years ago on a now-defunct site.
From Blog10

Cutting back your sin
      Just won't do.
Prune it back an inch,
      And it grows two.
Keep it within bounds?
      It breaks out.
      Try to hush it up,
      And sin soon shouts.

Kill! Yes, kill your sin
      Day by day.
The Spirit gives you strength.
      Live his way.

For if you live according to the flesh,
you must die;
but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body,
you will live.
