Open on Christmas

From Blog10

Not a baby and a virgin in a stable,
But some cigarettes and a clerk in a convenience store
Are the new religion of so many...
    A pleasure here,
A dollar or a hundred there,
    And God is soon forgotten,
Relegated to some upper channels on the TV
    Where hucksters hawk
        And preach a faith
            That's made them rich.

Please tell people once again
Of God in flesh
Who didn't come down the chimney in a red suit.
Bring them to the stable,
    To the Christ child,
That they may eventually go
Not just to the convenience store
But to the heavenly city.

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign.
Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and shall call his name Immanuel.
(Isaiah 7:14 ESV)

NOTE: "Immanuel" in Hebrew means "God with us."
