From Blog11

Torn between two worlds,
Giving his body to fleshly desires,
Coming to hear the word of the LORD,
He acts like his actions aren't plain as the night;
He will not forsake them; won't turn to what's right.

Thus he stands apart,
Not fully in and not fully out,
Keeping his past and chasing the LORD.
He acts like his sins are not blatant and bold.
He comes to the fire, but his heart is still cold.

...he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

--James 1:8 ESV

Written to describe a young man whose name I don't know, who sometimes attends my church. May the Lord grant him repentance. The photo illustration is someone else.

Ρωμανός ~ Romanós said...

A whole lifetime of serving the Lord, yet the tug of the flesh still tears me away from obediently following Him in a weak moment. Lord, have mercy, and grant us to meet You one day after we repent.

How many never make the commitment, never confess their sin and will spend eternity in hell after years of trying to act like a Christian.

How many others spend their life frustrated trying to live as they should, because they have never learned to walk in the spirit.

Romanós and dfish, amen to both of you. There's the truth of walking in the Spirit, and also the truth that we still feel the tug of the flesh.
