Light of the World

From Blog12
Jesus, the light of the world,
Beauty of God here unfurled--
Light of our fathers and theirs,
Light of our future and prayers--

Don't let our focus grow dim.
Don't let us follow our whims.
Wash us and set us apart.
Shine brilliant grace through each heart.

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12 ESV)

Poem written July 20, 2012, at Redeemer Fellowship Church, Watertown, Massachusetts, for God's glory.

"Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6

I love the promise in II Corinthians 3:18, "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord." As we absorb his light, we become like him.
