Yarded Well

When grass is yarded well
It casts a greening spell
Of fresh and ordered rest,
Of place that has been blessed
By God.

It minds us of respect
That counters world neglect;
Of greening of the soul
That's graced to be made whole
By God.

The grass withers, the flower fades,
    but the word of our God will stand forever.

(Isaiah 40:8 ESV)

Living in an arid area, grass is scarce, and is especially attractive. It can only survive where God provides adequate water, reminding us how dependent on him we are.

Thanks for the reminder.
