Jesus, crushed and pierced for me,
Hung to die just like a snake--
Lifted up for all to see,
Jesus suffered for our sake.
Christ was buried, fully dead,
Sealed inside a carved fresh cave,
Wrapped in cloths from toe to head.
Dead! Can such a leader save?
Jesus rose--alive once more,
Full of vigor, fresh and strong.
He has won! The final score
Will be sung through ages long.
Jesus Christ will come again
And he'll judge the live, the dead.
He'll be King, and he will reign
With his church for whom he bled.
Praise him for his choice to give
His own life for sinful men.
Praise him that he'll always live--
Lord of lords, Life without end.
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 ESV)
