Prayer's Answers

Prayer is not a package service
Bringing boxed blessings
Neatly crated,
Lowered from above.

Prayer is communication
With the Lord of glory--
Bringing him our needs
And then submitting to his will.

Those boxed blessings
May still come,
Especially if we ask,
But it's God's decision, not ours.

And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and knelt down and prayed, saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” (Luke 22:41-42 ESV)

Amen, Jim

So many want to use some body else's prayers or scripture not realizing that Prayer is communication with God. Far too often quoting scripture or praying a prescribed prayer does not communicate our thoughts or concerns.

Donald Fishgrab, yes. It's OK to use other people's prayers, but our use of them doesn't do any good unless they become ours. I recall being shocked when a lady prayed and then asked me whether she did it right. We must not "do" prayer. Instead, we pray.
